The O’Neill Tunnel will be closed from Tuesday night until Wednesday morning due to scheduled maintenance.
The tunnel will be closed on the northbound side starting at Exit 16, Southampton Street.
I-93 northbound traffic will be detoured off of the highway at Exit 16 onto surface street and allowed to re-enter I-93 northbound at the Haymarket on-ramp from Cross Street and New Sudbury Street.
Traffic for Route 1 will continue onto City Square in Charlestown to access the ramp from Rutherford Ave.
The closure will last from 11 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday.
Drivers are urged to avoid the area and seek alternate routes.
