BOSTON (WHDH) - Boston Mayor Marty Walsh announced Monday plans to make Newbury Street a pedestrian-only area for one day in August.
“Open Newbury Street” will be held on Sunday, Aug. 7 from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.
Cars will not be allowed on Newbury Street during that time from Berkeley Street to Massachusetts Avenue.
“Open Newbury Street is an opportunity for our residents and visitors to enjoy everything Newbury Street has to offer without worrying about cars,” Walsh said. “We’ve received a large amount of positive feedback from the community, and have worked closely with businesses and residents to ensure the pedestrian-only street closure will positively impact the neighborhood’s residents and businesses.”
Restricted parking will begin at 8 a.m.
