A judge heard opening statements Wednesday in the trial of a man charged for a serious car crash in Jamaica Plain. 

According to prosecutors, Nikolas Papadopoulos was speeding when he allegedly caused that accident in 2013. 

Papadopoulos was charged with negligent operation of a motor vehicle. 

According to police, the teen’s car jumped a median and hit a truck on the Arborway in Jamaica Plain. 

Five people, including Papadopoulos, were hurt. Two people suffered serious injuries.
