Feel the chill today? Yes it was cool, but overall, just a nice and seasonable afternoon with temperatures running in the lower 40s. We haven’t had many days near "normal" this December as the month overall has been running close to 10 degrees above average!
Love it or hate it, the mild pattern has some staying power through Christmas week, with just an occasional cool shot of weather mixed in. The first cool patch of weather is this evening and overnight as temperatures fall back into the 30s, if not even a few upper 20s in the northwest colder suburbs. I don’t expect much rain tonight, but some patchy drizzle by predawn is possible. With temps near/below freezing in northern Worcester County, a patch or two of freezing drizzle can’t be ruled out there.
Patchy drizzle tomorrow turns to more widespread showers and fog by the evening commute as temps remain in the mid to upper 40s from Boston, points north and slide into the low to mid 50s south of the Pike. Rainfall runs around 1/2" for many with locally higher amounts across the Cape and Islands.
Friday morning starts dry, although another wave of low pressure pushing by us around midday may throw a few more showers back in across eastern Mass around midday. Temps Friday run near 50.
The second cool patch is this weekend as it turns cooler, but it’s a seasonable chill with temps near 40. Saturday is the winder of the two days. Lake effect snow will be firing across the Great Lakes, but we’ll stay dry this weekend, although a Saturday flurry can’t be ruled out.
The pattern is mild, mild, mild next week. Expect lots of 50s, if not a few 60s ahead.
