BOSTON (WHDH) - An owl is recovering after a collision with a Green Line trolley.

At 11:25 p.m. Wednesday, a trolley operator reported a bird made contact with her train at Brookline Village.

The operator helped the bird from the track area to a bench.

The MBTA reached out to Brookline Animal Control, Boston Animal Control, MSPCA and the Mass Environmental Police for assistance, but they were not available to help.

MBTA officials said Tufts University Cummings School of Veterinary Medican was open overnight and was able to help.

“It’s always great to see our employees go over and above their regular duties,” acting MBTA General Manager Brian Shortsleeve said. “It was a terrific team effort last night by some very dedicated employees.”
