A toddler in Pennsylvania spent 13 hours in a car seat before dying at the hospital.

An investigation is underway after the 23-month old girl died at Uniontown hospital Wednesday morning.

Authorities said the child was put in a car seat at 9 p.m. Tuesday and not checked on until 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

At that time, the girl’s mother told police she went to give her daughter a drink and noticed something was wrong, so she rushed the girl to the hospital, where she later died.

State troopers executed a warrant Wednesday night at the family’s home. They said the home had no running water and conditions inside were deplorable.

Investigators said the toddler’s father was home during the time the child was in the car seat but never checked on her.

The toddler’s two siblings are in protective custody.

No charges have been filed in the case so far.
