PORTLAND, Maine (AP) — Two people in Maine accused of supplying fentanyl and needles to a man who overdosed and died are both scheduled to plead guilty to drug charges.
The Journal Tribune reports 39-year-old Earl Cormier, of Biddeford, was to plead guilty Thursday in U.S. District Court in Portland to a charge of conspiracy to distribute fentanyl. Thirty-seven-year-old Suzanne Cormier, of Sanford, is scheduled to plead guilty to the same charge on Jan. 9. Under the plea agreement, more serious charges will be dismissed.
Prosecutors say the Cormiers met the victim at a Biddeford Walmart with fentanyl Suzanne Cormier had obtained from a supplier. Authorities say the victim paid the Cormiers and took the drugs. Prosecutors say the victim was discovered unconscious and later died.
Both defendants face up to 20 years in prison.
