A Belmont woman who won the World Marathon Challenge was honored on Thursday with a parade in her hometown.

Becca Pizzi was the first American woman to complete seven marathons in seven days on seven continents.

"It was so exciting. I was on my feet. It was just everything I dreamed of as well," Pizzi said.

Along with the parade, the town officially declared Feb. 4 to be "Becca Pizzi Day" in Belmont.

The 35-year-old day care center operator said she was humbled to see large crowds supporting her at the parade.

Pizzi said the most difficult part of the challenge was being away from her daughter.
