BOSTON (WHDH) - This Father’s Day is extra special for Patriots player Martellus Bennett.

The talented tight end is now a published author of the children’s book “Hey A.J. It’s Saturday!”, and his inspiration comes from his two-year-old daughter.

“Well A.J. is based on my daughter Austyn Jett,” Bennett said. “So it’s about an imaginative girl named A.J., who wakes up on a Saturday morning and wants to have breakfast. But parents like to sleep in, so she decides to go downstairs and make breakfast herself, but there’s already feasts being served by creatures and beasts.”

For Bennett, coming up with the story was a team effort.

“A lot of characters, Jett pick out herself,” he said. “So she’s always sitting in my office and like, ‘Daddy I like this, I don’t like that Daddy.’”

Bennett’s wife Siggi couldn’t be happier that her husband is finally sharing his stories with the world.

“It’s really special,” she said. “We’ve been together a long time, almost a decade, so to see, you know, him evolve as a person, an artist, a player, a man, it’s just seeing it all come to fruition, I’m just really proud of him.”

Bennett will be reading his book on 91 Newbury Street Sunday for Father’s Day.
