BOSTON (AP) — Jake Peavy says he's excited to be a member of the Boston Red Sox and have a chance to make the playoffs this year.

The 2007 NL Cy Young winner was traded to Boston from the Chicago White Sox late Tuesday night. Peavy spoke with reporters at Fenway Park before the Red Sox hosted Seattle on Thursday night. He says he's happy to move from the last-place White Sox to the first-place Red Sox.

Peavy is set to start Saturday at home against Arizona.

Boston added Peavy to the 40-man roster on Thursday and recalled right-hander Steven Wright from Triple-A Pawtucket. The club also optioned righty Jose De La Torre to Pawtucket. Righty Brandon Workman was optioned to Pawtucket after last night's game.
