BOSTON (WHDH) - Police sealed off the scene outside Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston on Friday, where a woman was hit by a pickup truck just after 8 a.m., according to authorities.

It happened at the intersection of Frances and Binney Streets.

The victim was rushed to the emergency department just feet away after suffering critical injuries, according to police.

Roads around the crash were shut down for a while, creating challenges for those trying to get to the hospital.

“There’s people coming in and out of the parking garage all day long and then there’s all these vehicles turning,” said concerned resident Fred Clark. “Your head has to be on a swivel.”

An accident reconstruction team was working to piece together how all this happened on a busy Friday, in a busy section of the city.

For most, the moment was a lot to process.

“This is a lot today, a lot today, but again, prayers for what happened,” said Charlene Frediani, who was visiting a patient.

By late morning, the pickup truck was being towed away from the scene.

The driver remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

An investigation is ongoing.
