ORLANDO (WHDH) — In the wake of the Orlando shooting authorities have made an urgent plea for people to donate blood.

Hundreds of people have lined up at an Orlando blood bank with a line wrapping around the building.

Volunteers are passing out water and cookies to people standing in the hot sun.

Mobile blood vans are on their way to the building to meet the demand.

Officials have made a call for people with O-negative, O-positive, and A-B donors to donate as soon as possible to help the 53 people who were injured in the massacre.
