Pepperell Police have arrested a man who allegedly exposed himself inside an elementary school.

According to police, on Friday around 10:20 a.m., police were called to the Varnum Brook Elementary School for a report that a man entered the building and exposed himself to an employee.

When officers arrived, they were told the man walked up to the front counter and was speaking with the secretary when another employee noticed that he was exposing himself.

The man was identified as Charles Jestings, 54 of Pepperell.

He did not have any contact with, and his alleged actions were not witnessed by, any children at the school.

School staff immediately led Jestings outside, where he was arrested.

Jestings has been charged with open and gross lewdness.

North Middlesex Superintendent Joan Landers released the following statement regarding the incident:

"We want to ensure parents and the community that at no time were students in any danger and that our staff responded quickly and effectively, in conjunction with the Pepperell Police Department, to remove this individual from school property. The school administration extends our appreciation to the Pepperell Police Department for their immediate response and actions."
