PEPPERELL, MASS. (WHDH) - A 17-year-old boy from Pepperell has been charged in connection with a crash that may have been crashed by distracted driving.
The boy was charged with negligent operation with injury from mobile phone use.
Pepperell Police responded to a crash on Main Street in April after a then 16-year-old crossed into the opposite lane and struck another car head-on.
At the time of the crash, officials determined that the suspect was using a phone while driving. The woman in the other car sustained serious injuries and is still recovering.
The teenager was cited by police at the scene. The Middlesex District Attorney’ Office conducted a lengthy investigation that concluded the driver should be criminally charged.
The suspect’s name has not been released because he is a minor. He is expected to be arraigned at Middlesex Juvenile Court at a later date.
