NORTH ANDOVER, MASS. (WHDH) - One person was killed after getting hit by a train in North Andover Tuesday night.

North Andover Police responded to North Main Street at Ashland Street after a rail road employee reported possibly striking something on the tracks.

Officers located a man in the area who sustained serious injuries.

Officers say he was trespassing on the Right of Way and was struck by a Haverhill Line MBTA Commuter Rail.

He was taken to Lawrence General Hospital.

He was pronounced dead as a result of his injuries.
