ROCKPORT, Mass. (WHDH) — Rockport police are seeking the public’s help identifying person of interest in connection with an attack on a woman Wednesday night.

Police responded to Pooles Lane just after 9 p.m. Wednesday for a report of a woman screaming outside. Officers found the victim, who said she was attacked from behind and knocked to the ground.

After knocking the victim down, police said the suspect then attempted to remove her clothes, reaching for her underwear, but was unsuccessful and took off on a bicycle. Officers canvassed the area and could not find the suspect.

The suspect was described as being 5 feet 8 inches tall, with a medium to dark complexion, dark hair and no facial hair. He was wearing a gray t-shirt and did not say anything to the woman during the assault.

An investigation led police to surveillance video from a local business. Police are now looking to identify and question the man seen in the video.
