When the kids and their families arrived at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, they were surprised with some pretty big news.
For one night, they were part of the Phillies team with a real locker and a uniform.
It’s a dream come true for Riley from King of Prussia.
"It’s amazing," Riley said.
His locker is right next to Ryan Howard.
"I feel just as big as him. I’ve been a Phillies fan for like ten years," Riley said.
Most of these kids have had it tough the past few years, spending months in the hospital, missing school and unable to play sports.
The Ortiz family said their son Noah was diagnosed with brain tumors this summer.
"He likes sports, he likes baseball, we’re hoping he can just get some fun out of it," said Noah’s mother Natalie Ortiz.
The kids hit the batting cages, and their parents took pictures.
It was a moment of bliss and a distraction amid an unthinkably difficult time.
Eighth grader Marcus Guattlebaum suffers from sickle cell, but said at the ball park, that was not even on his mind.
"Even though I have this disease inside of me, I can still have fun, swing at the cages, do everything I dream about," Gauttlebaum said.
