A local photographer will be publishing a book of his photos that capture Boston in the wake of the 2013 marathon bombings.

While the world was focused on the manhunt in Watertown, Malden-born photograph Josh London went through Boston, capturing the city at a standstill.

“It was bittersweet,” said London. “I knew why it was empty, but it was worth getting the shots.”

A year later, London revisited the same places in his photos to get the same shots with the marathon and crowds back. His book features this “before and after” look of the city.

“It gives hope,” said London. “It shows that through tough times, people will always persevere.”

The book, “The Day Boston Stood Still,” will be available soon. All the proceeds from the book sales will go to the Brigham and Woman’s Gillian Reny Stepping Strong Fund.
