PLYMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - Fire crews in Plymouth spent the night treating two people and clearing a pickup truck from the Eel River, after it went off a bridge and into the water.

The incident took place on Route 3A, by Long Beach where Plymouth Fire officials say a truck crashed around 8:45 p.m. Monday night.

There, firefighters found a vehicle had gone off the road and through a guard rail before landing in the river. Two people were inside the truck at the time and taken to Beth Israel Hospital in Plymouth soon afterwards.

As for the vehicle, crews had to flip the truck over before they could get it out of the water.

The crash also left a hole in the bridge’s guard rail, which crews used concrete barriers to patch up. MassDOT later determined there was no structural damage to the bridge.

Details on the exact condition of the two people hospitalized have not yet been given. Officials said the cause of the crash remains under investigation.
