FALMOUTH, MASS. (WHDH) - A plane made an emergency landing on Black Beach in Falmouth Thursday after the pilot says he ran out of fuel.
The pilot tells 7NEWS he was flying to the Falmouth Airpark from Western Massachusetts when he realized he was running out of gas. He says he made the split-second decision to land on the beach.
The plane was able to make a smooth landing.
“The airplane he was flying actually is very adaptable to unimproved strips, being a tail dragger and the sand was firm so not that big a deal. He had plenty of room,” said Ed Stadelman, President of the Falmouth Airpark Homeowner’s Association.
Stadelman says he helped refuel the plane and get it back in the air.
No one was hurt and the plane was not damaged.
