A plane parachuted to a safe crash-landing on Long Island on Saturday.

Louis Obergh said he was approaching the runway at Republic Airport in Farmingdale, when the small aircraft lost engine power.

"The engine died and I pulled the parachute and we landed. So how lucky to come in that close to that building? We got very lucky. Very lucky,” Obergh said.

Officials say the plane came down about eight miles from the airport.

Obergh said he and his daughter were returning home from a trip to the University of Rhode Island.

No injuries were reported.
