It’s a big day tomorrow! It’s almost as if spring really STARTS tomorrow, with baseball returning to Boston! GO RED SOX!! Of course, it’s no secret that the last couple of weeks have been very winter-like. Almost a bit unbearable at times… Many people expressed their frustrations on social media. I get it. I’m right there with you, longing for that warm day in March when temps soared into the 70s!! There’s nothing like a prolonged stay of Old Man Winter to give us the springtime blues. Well, you’ll be happy to know that a more spring-like pattern is in store for this week, but it does come along with a bit of a catch… Spring-like temps will also come along with some April showers.
Clouds move in overnight, and there’s a slight chance of some showers and/or wintry mix in the NW Mass. There is some very dry air in place (dewpoints in the single digits!) for those showers to overcome before they can even reach the surface. The bottom line is, most of us (if not all) stay dry tonight. With the clouds moving in, temps will bottom out in the mid 30s for most – closer to 40° for Boston.
The clouds that are moving in tonight are in response to a warm front (good news, right?) and that milder air will take our Monday temps well into the 50s! However, the clouds stick around with us and there will also be some gusty SW winds, 15-25mph with gusts between 30-40mph… as well as a slight chance for a pop shower. This is very spring-like, indeed. I only give it about a 20 to 30% chance for showers tomorrow. So again, most of us stay dry. I think the only bummer about the weather tomorrow will be the wind. Hold on to your Red Sox caps!
Rob Eicher wrote an AWESOME blog about our upcoming weather pattern: http://www.whdh.com/story/31685700/the-omega-blues. It’s a good read. I highly recommend it! Here’s the short of it, from my perspective: After some more significant rain expected to move through on Tuesday, we stay in a very unsettled weather pattern through the rest of this week. Onshore winds will keep coastal areas in the 40s, clouds will likely stick around, and there’s a chance for showers almost every day this week. It’s a more spring-like pattern, but many of us will likely still have the spring-time blues. Sorry, Charlie.
BUT you know what they say, "April showers bring May flowers!" Or is it "Mayflowers," like the ship… I was never quite sure. :c) Anyway, have a great week, and GO RED SOX!!!! – Breezy
