Authorities say a New York man has been killed in a motorcycle crash in Connecticut after losing control of his bike and hitting a directional sign.

Police say 52-year-old Alberto Richards, a Bronx resident, was traveling on Route 341 in Kent at around 9:30 a.m. Sunday when he lost control and went off the road. His motorcycle went up an embankment and struck a Department of Transportation directional sign.

Police say a second motorcyclist, 27-year-old Brian Pagan, was driving behind Richards and also went off Route 341 and hit a DOT sign.

Both drivers were rushed to Danbury Hospital where Richards died of his injuries. Police say Pagan sustained non-life threatening injuries.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
