WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) — Worcester police say a 96-year-old woman involved in a traffic crash in the city this week has died.

The woman was a passenger in one of the vehicles involved in the crash at Park Avenue and Lovell Street on Wednesday afternoon. She suffered a leg injury.

Police say the hospital called Thursday afternoon to report that the woman had died. Her name was not released.

Investigators say both vehicles were traveling in the same direction near a construction site when an SUV driven by a 45-year-old Connecticut woman tried to change lanes and caused a collision that sent a car over the curb and onto the sidewalk. The victim was a passenger in the car.

The driver of the car, a 59-year-old woman, was also taken to the hospital.
