Police have arrested a 22-year-old man in connection with the murder of a Taunton woman.
James Souza, of Fall River, is charged with with murder and armed robbery, according to the Bristol County District Attorney’s Office.
Souza was arrested at 6:45 p.m. on Friday at a home in Taunton, according to the DA’s office.
At around 5:47 p.m. on Monday, a woman called Taunton Police and said she arrived him and found her girlfriend, 23-year-old Vanessa Courtney, dead inside.
Authorities say Courtney’s throat had been slashed or stabbed.
Souza and Courtney knew each other, according to the DA’s office.
Souza will be arraigned in court on Monday.
