Police are looking for suspects after a school bus with a child on board was hit by a bullet in Holyoke.
The incident happened near Oak and Suffolk street on Tuesday afternoon. Police said two groups started shooting at each other when a stray bullet hit the preschool bus making its last stop for the day. The 4-year-old girl on the bus was not hurt and her mother said the bus driver hugged her and helped calm her down.
"We don’t want to see it ever happen again and we’re going to work as hard as we can to catch the folks responsible," said Holyoke Mayor Alex Morse.
The girl’s mother said her daughter is fine but still shaken by what happened.
Police say the shooting may have been gang-related. They are reviewing surveillance video from the area as part of the investigation.
