TAUNTON, MASS. (WHDH) - A man was arrested after police said he led them on a multi-town chase following a carjacking.

The alleged police chase began at the Stop & Shop on State Road in Plymouth. Police said the suspect approached an elderly woman in the parking lotand told her that her husband needed her inside. While she was distracted, the suspect allegedly pushed her away and grabbed her car keys, driving off with her car.

Police said the suspect led them in a chase along Route 3A and then Route 44 before it came to a stop in Taunton. The suspect allegedly lost control of the car and crashed into a house at the intersection of South Preicent and Seekal streets. Witnesses reported hearing a lodu thud before seeing the suspec climb out of the car and try to run off.

The suspect was arrested and taken to Beth Israel Deaconess Hospital in Plymouth with minor injuries. The woman at the Stop & Shop was uninjured.

The suspect will be arraigned Tuesday in Plymouth District Court.
