ACUSHNET, MA (WHDH) — A 3-year-old girl in Acushnet was killed after police said a car rolled over her in her driveway.
Police said the girl’s father was repairing his Ford Excursion when it somehow rolled away and ran over his daughter, who had been playing outside. The SUV then rolled across the street, hitting a neighbor’s car.
“Horrible, awful. I was upset because I saw him leaning over there, just screaming,” said neighbor Tammy Silva. “He was leaning over the body and then I saw the cops come and they put the blanket over the little girl.”
The father’s sister told 7News the family is too devastated to talk right now. Neighbor Katy Galipeau described them as a “bubbly, happy family” and said she hopes they can find some peace.
