READING, MASS. (WHDH) - Charges are pending against a driver from Maine after police said he led them on a chase through two towns before it ended with a crash in Reading.

Police said the 67-year-old driver was blocking traffic in his car at the intersection of routes 28 and 62 and was acting strange. People who called 911 reported that he was screaming and pulling at his hair. When an officer banged on his car windows, police said the driver took off.

The man was pursued for about a mile-and-a-half into Reading, where police said he crashed into a police and his car flipped over. The car caught fire and firefighters got the man to safety.

The man was taken to the hospital and charges are pending.
