FARMINGTON, Conn. (AP) — Police say a 71-year-old man and his adult son riding an all-terrain vehicle near an abandoned quarry in Connecticut have died in a fall off a cliff.

Police say they riding the ATV at the old Tilcon quarry in Farmington at about 8 p.m.

A person on another ATV who was with them called 911. The caller had to lead officers and firefighters to the scene because of the challenging terrain.

The older man and his 30-year-old son were pronounced dead at the scene.

Their names were not made public.

Police say the quarry if off-limits to the public.

The deaths are under investigation.
