OXFORD, Mass. (WHDH) — Prosecutors are preparing to file charges against a drive who was involved in a hit and run crash with a pregnant woman.

The pregnant woman and her unborn baby were not hurt.

Katie LaMontagne, 21, pulled over to drop off friends. She admits she parked on the wrong side of the road — but her hazards were on.

“All I remember is her coming at me, and I screamed, ‘she's not going to stop,’ and she slammed into my car,” said LaMontagne, who is four months pregnant.

She says the other driver was also a woman in her 20s.

“I didn't care about anyone else in the car. In the other car. All I cared about was Katie's safety,” said Matthew Bergeron, a passenger in Lamontagne’s car.

LaMontagne says the woman didn’t want to call police

“I said, ‘you tore off my front end I do have to call police. I'm sorry,’

That's when she got back into her car, backed up and took off up the street with a popped tire she went,” LaMontagne said.

“I knew she had a flat tire. I knew obviously her front end had to be messed up,” said Stephanie Dunn, a passenger in LaMontagne’s car.

LaMontagne’s friends collected pieces of the wreckage.

Police spread the word through social media, and sure enough, tips starting coming in that led to the vehicle in question.

“It appeared to be abandoned. We went to a location in town. And it appeared there was nobody around it,” said Chief Michael Hassett, Oxford Police Department.

The driver is being summonsed to court.

LaMongtagne and her unborn baby are fine.

“They did two ultrasounds on him that night,” LaMontagne said.

Still, LaMontagne is upset with the driver.

“How do you drive away from someone like that? Not have a care in the world that you just damaged my car. You may have injured me and my child. What were you thinking?” LaMontagne said.
