HARTFORD, Vt. (AP) — Vermont police say 19-year-man injured in a shooting involving a state trooper is accused of aggravated domestic assault, aggravated assault, reckless endangerment and resisting arrest.
Police said they responded to a call of a domestic assault with a shotgun fired Sunday night. Officers said they found James Luce, of Quechee, armed with a shotgun walking near the home. Police said he refused to comply with their orders, but he didn’t threaten anyone with the gun.
In a later encounter with troopers, police said Luce again refused to comply and a trooper fired at him once. A stun gun also was used. Luce was taken into custody and brought to a hospital. Police say he suffered minor abrasions. He was expected in court Monday; it wasn’t known if he had a lawyer.
The trooper’s on paid administrative leave.
