VERNON, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut have identified a suspect in a fatal hit-and-run that killed a volunteer sports coach out walking the family puppy, authorities said Friday.
Vernon police did not immediately disclose the suspect’s name and no arrests were announced in connection with the death of Andrew Aggarwala, 44, the father of two children, the Journal Inquirer reported.
Aggarwala, a volunteer for the Vernon Soccer Club, was walking his family’s 6-month-old puppy, Ollie, when he was hit by a car on Tuesday afternoon.
The dog ran away and hasn’t been found, despite searches involving volunteers and drones. Police are urging residents to keep an eye out for the puppy, which is mostly black with some white on its face, belly and legs.
Police Lt. William Meier said officers on Wednesday found what they believe is the vehicle that struck Aggarwala.
Aggarwala died of blunt force trauma to his head, torso and extremities, according to the medical examiner’s office.
