ENFIELD, Conn. (AP) — Police in Connecticut are investigating after a 4-year-old boy was fatally struck by a pickup truck.

The child was hit by the truck at about 5 p.m. Sunday in the town of Enfield. The driver, identified as Jonathan Riches, has not been charged.

Lt. Thomas Foy of the Enfield police told the Hartford Courant that the death is under investigation but there’s no evidence Riches was driving recklessly when he struck the child. “This is extremely tragic at every turn here,” Foy said.

The child’s name was not released.
