OXFORD, MASS. (WHDH) - Police investigating a fatal crash in Oxford on Monday that shut down a main road for three hours.
Around 11:15 a.m., State Police responded to a four-car crash on Sutton Ave that resulted in the death of a pedestrian.
According to police, preliminary information shows the operator of a 2010 Lexus travelling from the Route 395 southbound ramp onto Sutton Avenue lost control and struck a 2011 Toyota Corolla by the Honey Farms convenience store.
The Corolla then struck two pedestrians who were on the sidewalk in front of the store.
The Lexus continued on Sutton Ave, hitting two more cars, a 2010 Nissan Altima and a 2015 Nissan Rogue.
One of the pedestrians was determined to be dead at the scene and was transported to the medical examiner’s office in Boston.
The victim has now been identified as Daniel Sullivan, 53 of Oxford.
The other pedestrian who was hit, Gina Capello, 52 of Andover, was transported to UMass Medical with serious injuries.
The driver of the Lexus and the passengers in the Corolla and Rogue were transported to UMass Medical for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The driver of the Altima was transported to Hubbard Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
