WINTHROP, MASS. (WHDH) - WINTHROP, MA (WHDH) — Police in Winthrop are investigating a shooting that occurred Saturday night on Revere Street.
According to Winthrop PD, police responded to a house party on Revere Street near Argyle Street between 10 and 11 p.m. Saturday night for reports of a disturbance.
Police found a gunshot victim at the party who suffered wounds to the stomach. The victim is a 27-year-old Stoneham man. He was transported to Massachusetts General Hospital with serious injuries. He is listed as critical but stable and is expected to survive.
Police have apprehended two suspects related to the crime and believe that one of the suspects is the shooter.
Andrew Guilfoyle, 31, the resident of the home, and partygoer Jared Damelio, 28, are currently in custody. They have been charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and are expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
According to police, the victim had been involved in a fistfight before leaving the party. He returned to the party with some friends shortly after midnight and was involved in a second altercation.
Police say Guilfoyle admitted to owning and using the gun, which he owned lawfully.
Winthrop Police have also recovered the weapon from the shooting.
