A driver in Quincy was charged with OUI after police said he hit seven cars.

Early Monday morning, officers said they responded to a report of a hit-and-run crash on Davis Street in Quincy. The suspect vehicle’s was described as a gray Cadillac. Officers arrived on scene and saw residents standing outside with several damaged cars.

One of the area residents pointed to the driver of the gray Cadillac, later identified as 21-year-old Matthew Broadbent, who was standing in the area. Officers found damage on eight cars, including Broadbent’s.

Witnesses said they saw Broadbent’s car hit the other cars, back up, and continue to hit other cars. A pickup truck was hit with such force that witnesses said it landed on top of another car.

After hitting the cars, police said Broadbent began revving his engine to try to back up, but his car was stuck. Residents then smashed the passenger window, put the car in park and removed the keys from the ignition.

Neighbors said they are relieved that only cars were damaged and no one was injured.

Broadbent is expected in court later this month.
