BOXFORD, Mass. (AP) — Massachusetts State Police troopers say a good Samaritan attempting to help a driver in a broken down vehicle on Interstate 95 ended up with severe injuries when he was struck by an oncoming vehicle.
Police Sgt. Paul Sullivan says a disabled vehicle pulled into the breakdown lane Wednesday evening on the highway near Boxford, followed by a second vehicle driven by the good Samaritan. The Salem News reports the would-be good Samaritan was then struck by a southbound vehicle, which then prompted traffic chaos as multiple vehicles then braked and swerved.
Sullivan says the unidentified man was alive when he arrived at the hospital, but says he is unable to provide further information.
Sullivan says state police are still working to sort out the aftermath of the initial crash.
