WAKEFIELD, MASS. (WHDH) - State Police said a man was stabbed with the broken shaft of a golf club in Wakefield Tuesday afternoon.

Police said the stabbing happened during a fight at Breakheart Reservation. State Police Sgt. Mark Lynch said three men from Beverly were involved in the fight. The incident was isolated and police said there is no threat to the public.

After the fight, the suspect allegedly fled the area in a stolen car before crashing in Wakefield Center. The suspect was then taken into custody.

The man was airlifted to a hospital in Boston. State Police said the man has serious injuries but they are not life-threatening.
