BANGOR, Maine (AP) — An affidavit says a man indicted for the murder of a teenage girl used a fake Facebook account to lure her from her home so that he could stage her kidnapping and rescue and look like a hero.
Instead, Kyle Dube ended up killing 15-year-old Nichole Cable, whose body was found in a wooded area this month a week after she went missing, according to the affidavit released Wednesday.
A friend of Nichole's told authorities someone had set up a fake Facebook account in his name and he suspected the 20-year-old Dube. Police asked Facebook officials to produce records to identify the owner of the account, which was traced to Dube and his parents' home.
Dube's attorney did not return a phone call on Wednesday.
