Police arrested a man on Sunday after he allegedly robbed a store, fled into a house and got into a struggle with a resident inside.

Justin Santagati, 33, of Manchester, is facing charges of burglary, robbery, simple assault on a police officer, criminal mischief, criminal trespassing and three counts of resisting arrested, according to police.

At around 11:20 p.m., police responded to Vinton Street for a report of a robbery outside a Sprint store.

Police say the Santagati had borrowed a phone from a customer he knew but refused to return it. Police say the suspect assaulted the phone owner and fled on foot.

An officer found Santagati inside a nearby McDonald’s five minutes after the initial report, according to police. Santagati fled as soon as he spotted the officer, but the officer grabbed him by the waist. Santagati managed to escape the officer, police said.

Santagati fled on foot, lost his shoes during a struggle with the officer and ran barefoot into 20 Beech Street, police said. Santagati then fled the house toward Randall Street.

Officers continued chasing Santagati where he entered 115 Randall St. through a side door, according to police. Santagati startled a woman inside the house and the woman called for her husband, police said.

The husband struggled with Santagati until an officer got to the home, police said. The officer told Santagati to stop but was forced use his taser on the suspect.

Santagati appeared in court on Monday, police said.
