MILTON, Mass. (WHDH) — Norfolk County District Attorney Michael Morrissey was hospitalized after police say he started a four-car chain-reaction crash in Milton Tuesday night.
“There was stuff on the ground, but like I said, they must have cleared it out pretty fast,” said Jack Folcarelli, a neighbor.
Police said the crash happened around 6 p.m. Tuesday on Center Street. Morrissey was traveling alone to his Quincy home from his Canton office. Police said for an unknown reason Morrissey crossed the double yellow lines and collided with two other cars. A fourth car ran off the road to avoid the accident.
Folcarelli said his mom called 911 and then rushed outside to help.
“She thought it was my dad…so called, ran out, and then gave assistance to somebody,” said Folcarelli.
The DA’s 2011 Ford Explorer sat under a trap in a Weymouth Tow Yard along with two of the other damaged vehicles.
“It looked like a very bad accident,” said John Gallagher, who lives nearby the scene.
Emergency responders transported four people to the hospital, including a child. Two were brought to Beth Israel Deaconess Milton Hospital and two were brought to Boston Medical Center. Three people were treated and released, Morrissey remains hospitalized.
Neighbors along Centre Street said they’ve seen other accidents happen along this narrow stretch before.
“There’s very little room to maneuver. You have to be very attentive to how you are going,” said Gallagher.
Milton police said they have issued motor vehicle citations to two operators, but won’t identify them.
