A police officer was caught on camera at a traffic court in Utah baby-sitting a restless toddler while her father was in the courtroom.

Orem Police Officer Kevin Norris was waiting to testify at court and 2-year-old Abby was there with her father. Norris said he noticed Abby’s father was having some trouble making her sit still. When it was time for her father to go in the courtroom, Abby could not go in. Norris volunteered to baby-sit the girl to help out.

"He didn’t what to do, so I took the girl by the hand and walked around and we went and got a drink and took giant steps, baby steps. Kind of the same thing I do with my own kids," said Norris. He also watched cartoons on his phone with Abby until she fell asleep next to him.

"We’re not just officers who are out there just to arrest people. We’re out there to make our community a better place," said Norris.
