A New Bedford police officer was injured Monday night after he was run over by a dirt bike.

Sergeant Candido Trinidad, 35, was struck by one of a group of off-road vehicles driving recklessly through the city on Halloween night. Police arrested 11 adults outside the former Flagship Cinema on Kings Highway.

The driver of the dirt bike, Carlos Gonzalez, 24, was charged with on eight counts, including assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and operating without a license.

In addition, Franco Santos, 28 of New Bedford, and Nicholas Santiago, 26 of Fall River, were charged on three counts each.

Sgt. Trinidad was treated and released at Rhode Island Hospital. Gonzalez was treated for minor injuries at St. Luke’s Hospital.

Those arrested are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at New Bedford District Court.
