A South Hadley Police officer was stabbed on Friday night during a confrontation with an armed man, according to State Police. 

According to the district attorney’s office, at around 7:25 p.m., the officer went to the Dunkin’ Donuts on Newton Street for a report of a disturbance. 

When the officer arrived, an armed man confronted him. 

The officer fired his gun three times at the suspect and struck him twice, according to the DA’s office.

The officer suffered a stab wound in his neck. 

The suspect and the officer were both taken to a hospital. There is no word on the conditions of the officer or suspect.
