PARSONSFIELD, Maine (AP) — Officials say a 26-year-old pregnant woman in Maine has been stabbed in the abdomen in an altercation sparked by social media.

York County Sheriff Bill King tells the Portland Press Herald that 18-year-old Danielle Emery pulled out a knife and stabbed the unidentified victim, who is 20 weeks pregnant, in Parsonsfield Sunday.

Police said the altercation began with online threats involving two couples, including the woman who stabbed the victim and now faces charges of elevated aggravated assault. The couples met in person, where they began to fight.

Officials say the victim was having difficulty breathing and was flown to Central Maine Medical Center. Here condition was not available Monday.

It wasn’t immediately known if Emery had a lawyer. A listed phone number was disconnected.
