A Quincy man died after police said he fell trying to break up a fight in Dorchester.

Police said 45-year-old Brian Hingston was on a party bus with friends late Saturday night when a fight broke out. It spilled out of the bus and Hingston fell trying to intervene and break things up. Police said he hit his head and ended up dying from his injuries.

Police said they do not know if charges will be filed yet and are awaiting information from his autopsy.

Hingston’s family said his organs were donated to help six other people. A GoFundMe page has been set up by Hingston’s friends to help his wife and three children.

Statement from Brian Hingston’s family:

"Brian Hingston was a devoted husband, father, son, brother and friend. His loss in unimaginable to all that knew and loved him. He was a gentleman who loved his family, loved to laugh, enjoyed traveling and music."

There are surveillance cameras that look down into the parking lot that will be used in the investigation.
