WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) — Police discovered nearly $150,000 in a car filled with teenagers following a police chase.

Surveillance video from outside and inside shows the car crash into a tattoo shop on Shrewsbury Street in Worcester.

"Yeah, the car was pushed into the wall. The whole inside wall was pushed out. Everything was completely a mess on the inside,” said Marc Williams, business owner.

It started when state police say a car was speeding on Route 290. The trooper tried to pull the car over, but it wouldn't stop, and tried to lose him by getting off the highway.

"Cars are going this way. I just took it for granted that he was drunk, going up the wrong way, you know the wrong side,” said Tom Simone, a neighbor.

The chase came to an abrupt stop. An 18-year-old, two 17-year-olds and a juvenile were in the car — but not for long.

"Two guys in the front. One guy in the back. Girl is coming out right now. State trooper is right there," Williams said.

One stayed and the other three took off running. The state trooper caught two of them and police found the other.

The surprise was the oldest was carrying two shopping bags full of cash; $148,000 that police say they stole from a parked car.

"Pretty crazy, I would like to know where the money came from,” Williams said. "I was super appreciative that we weren't open. I was very happy that we weren't open. Because whoever was sitting in those first two chairs would have got hurt pretty bad."

The suspects are under arrest and face serious charges.
