BOSTON (WHDH) - Officers recovered a loaded firearm after making a drug arrest in downtown Boston Friday afternoon, according to Boston police.
Police said the arrest occurred in the area of Beacon and Joy Streets shortly before 1:30 p.m.
According to police, officers were on patrol in the Boston Common in response to numerous complaints regarding the sale of illegal drugs when they saw 21-year-old Issa Hamilton of Boston conduct a drug deal with another individual.
Hamilton was known to officers from previous interactions and drug distribution charges.
Hamilton was taken into custody without incident. Officers recovered several small bags of marijuana packaged for sale and $160 in cash.
After searching Hamilton’s backpack, they found a loaded gun which had been hidden in a black and white bandana.
Hamilton will appear in Boston Municipal Court on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, distribution of Class D drugs, and possession with intent to distribute Class D drugs.
The second individual was issued a civil citation for possession of Class D drugs, and they were released from the scene.
