Police release name of Chicopee shooting victim

Associated Press

CHICOPEE, Mass. (AP) — Authorities have released the name of the man fatally shot in Chicopee last weekend.

The Hampden district attorney’s office in an email Tuesday identified the victim of the Sunday shooting as 27-year-old Charles White, of Springfield.

Chicopee police responded to reports of gunfire at about 12:40 a.m.

White was found outside with what appeared to be multiple gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police have said the victim knew the shooter and that it was not a random act of violence.

No arrests have been announced.

It was the first homicide in Chicopee since September 2017.
